Be prepared for the unexpected…

It is an interesting world we live in. Unpredictable, challenging, confusing, devastating, rewarding, and that is at the best of times. Things seem to be going well and then we get bowled over by drought, bushfires, floods and now the coronavirus pandemic (is that official yet?). It is enough to break the spirit of a nation let alone an individual, and now the media are spiking a potential recession. Some economists think we are already in one!

Haven’t we got enough to worry about… clearly not!

In the world of talent acquisition, things are going to become a lot more difficult. The migration of talent across borders in all likelihood is going to become more regulated and constrained in the short term, inhibiting project completion let alone just filling that seat! Enterprise and government will need to become far more strategic in their approach to “getting” talent onboard. They will need to re-assess their attraction processes and possibly develop new strategies to find skills and knowledge.

What contingencies do you have in place when you can’t find the expertise or talent required to satisfy line management. How do you manage this crisis?

Time to have that conversation and get prepared!
