Over-dressed for the occasion?

Have you ever had that sinking feeling when you have been overdressed for the occasion? It is much worse though when you are under-dressed, don’t you think? A bit like underprepared! There is nothing worse than being underprepared. It feels just like you are setting yourself up for failure. We have all been there, right!

It begs the question though… “how prepared are you with the corona-virus pandemic?” How prepared is your business?… What does your corporate protocol for this pandemic look like?… Have you asked your management the simple question, “when our first staff member contracts the virus, what will we be expected to do?”

You haven’t…well maybe you should, because the ramifications for you could be alarming, and no-one wants that!

There is one thing for sure though, and that is at some stage in the near future many of us are going to be impacted by the pandemic to varying degrees. The general advice being handed out is to be rational, stay calm, don’t stress and do the things to maintain your health and vitality, and that reins through with your employment. It is easy to say, “we are all in this together”, but it is true. For most, this is the first time as a community and a nation we have been through this, or at least can remember something similar. It is all our responsibility to help one another get through this with minimal personal as well as a corporate detriment. Planning for what may happen though, particularly with respect to your job function may be prudent. Asking yourself the simple question, will I be working from home, or will my job function just cease for up to two weeks? Planning is key in all of this, so if your organisation can’t answer some simple questions around all of this, you better get into gear quickly!
